It is a hard time trying to find/come up with a name for a blog. The title…you feel should say a lot…even the address where people can find it as well. I had a blog, which I was too scared to publish….it was called “The Wilderness”….I thought that the name had a ring to it….I used to have “wilder-beast” as my login name in some of the messengers!! That gave way to the name of the blog.
After having read my blog…a few days since I felt that the name didn’t quite suit the material put up on it….so I called it the
Screaming insides”….which was a good one I thought….but after a few jokes made about the same relating it to my sexual orientation…hehe…I had to think of a new one !!!
ElkJR has been my nickname….for a long time…so that choice wasn’t even conscious…..I guess..choosing “virtual panopticon” was a slower process…I had to get it right this time…I have been asked this before, so I also wanted to explain why exactly I chose it….
A panopticon, states Wkipedia is a:
The Panopticon is a type of prison building designed by English philosopher Jeremy Bentham in 1785. The concept of the design is to allow an observer to observe (-opticon) all (pan-) prisoners without the prisoners being able to tell whether they are being watched, thereby conveying what one architect has called the “sentiment of an invisible omniscience.”[1]
Bentham himself described the Panopticon as “a new mode of obtaining power of mind over mind, in a quantity hitherto without example.”[2]

In a way this is a virtual prison, I think I have owned up to all my sins…and turned myself in….I am guilty..
